Mental Performance Coaching with Coach Val

You’ve Trained Your Body. Now Train Your Mind.

You’ve put in the hours. You’ve practiced, prepared, and worked on your game. But when it’s time to compete, there’s another part of performance that matters just as much: what’s happening between your ears.

The good news? Mental skills can be trained, just like physical ones. And you don’t have to wait until something goes wrong to start.

Does Any of This Sound Familiar?

“I play great in practice, and I want that to show up in competition.”

You know you have the skills. Now you want to bring them into the moments that count.

“The voice in my head isn’t always on my side.”

You want your self-talk to coach you, not criticize you, especially when the game gets tough.

“One mistake turns into two. Then three.”

You’d love to let go of a bad shot, play, or moment before it takes over the rest of your game.

“You can tell how I’m playing just by looking at me.”

You want to carry yourself like a competitor, whatever the scoreboard says.

“I want my practice to count.”

You want routines and habits that show up every day, not just on the days you feel motivated.

“I’m playing well, and I want to take it to the next level.”

You’re already doing a lot right. Now you want the mental edge that turns good into great.

If one of these sounds like you, you’re in good company. Every athlete has been there, including me.

Who It’s For

Any athlete who wants to perform their best when it matters most.

You don’t need to be struggling to start. Some athletes are already playing well and want to be more consistent. Others are coming back from a tough season. Both are great places to begin.

Parents and coaches are welcome to reach out on behalf of an athlete. For athletes under 18, a parent or guardian takes part in getting started.

How We Work Together

Train the skills that help you perform.

Mental performance coaching gives you practical tools you can use in practice, in competition, and in the moments in between.

We can work on:

Self-Talk

hearing what you say to yourself, and learning to manage it so your inner voice works for you

Confidence

trusting your abilities and your preparation

Focus

staying present on the shot, the play, the moment

Pre-Game Routines

habits that help you show up ready

Handling Pressure

responding well when the stakes feel high

Bouncing Back

letting go of mistakes and moving on to the next play

We always start with what you’re already doing well. Then we build strategies you can practice in your sport.

The goal isn’t to turn you into a different athlete. It’s to bring more of the athlete you already are into competition.

Meet Your Coach

Hi, I’m Coach Val.

I’ve spent most of my life competing, especially in golf. As a former professional golfer, an LPGA Professional, and a high school golf coach, I’ve seen competition from both sides: as the athlete standing over the shot, and as the coach helping athletes get ready for it.

I know what it’s like to prepare for a big moment, feel the pressure, and have days when your mind doesn’t cooperate with your game. That’s exactly why I love this work.

And yes, athletes should still have fun playing the sport they love.
